Leak Detection Upgrade - New LMic Listening Stick with Electrical Insulation

Accurate Detection, in partnership with Palmer Environmental have improved the electrical insulation of the industry standard Listening stick, the Palmer LMic. The Palmer LMic is seen as the industry standard listening stick for use in Leak Detection surveys and leakage pinpointing. A recent incident involving a leak detection officer receiving an electric shock whilst using a traditional metal Listening stick has caused the industry to look at the insulating properties of their equipment. This incident occurred after a storm caused a short circuit between the electricity supply and water pipes, which have traditionally been used as the earthing point for domestic properties.

The Palmer LMic listening stick already has strong insulating properties, but Palmer Environmental have added an insulating disc between the shaft and the hand-piece, with heavy duty insulation added to the shaft for extra protection.

One of Australia's largest water service providers have ordered over 200 of the new LMic listening sticks to replace older metal listening sticks currently used by their crews. These insulated listening sticks will be used in every day operations as well as for leak detection work.
