The leak finder is inserted inside the disconnected water pipe and pushed through the pipe. It has an inflatable bladder on the end to provide a seal inside the pipe. You perform a series of pressure tests to assist you determine the position of the leak. When the pressure drops the leak is between the pipe end and the end of leak finder and when it holds pressure the leak is downstream of the leak finder. The leak finder has a copper trace wire so that you can then trace the pipe (even if it is pvc) to the point of the leak with your locator. (Max pipe diameter is 50mm).
